    A few things to know

    How do I compress a video for free?

    Select a video, choose a preset, and press Compress video. Your browser re-encodes the video as an H.264 MP4. You can preview and download the result for free, without signing up.

    Will my compressed video always be smaller?

    File size depends on the original encoding and the selected preset. Already optimized videos can become larger. We show the actual size after processing so you can compare. Choose Smaller file for stronger compression.

    What do the compression presets change?

    Smaller file caps video bitrate at 1.5 Mbps and a maximum long edge of 1280 pixels. Balanced caps video bitrate at 3 Mbps and Better quality at 6 Mbps, both at a maximum long edge of 1920 pixels. For smaller source files, bitrate adapts downward to target 45%, 65%, or 85% of the source video bitrate, with a 100 kbps floor. Videos are not upscaled and output is 30 fps. Audio is AAC at 128 kbps.

    Which video formats and browsers work?

    MP4, MOV, and WebM are common inputs, but decoding and H.264/AAC encoding support depend on your browser and operating system. Try an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, or Safari. If a codec is unavailable, the tool explains the problem instead of silently removing audio.

    Is there a video size limit?

    There is no paid file-size limit. Available device memory and browser capabilities set the practical limit. The finished MP4 is held in memory, so large or long videos can exhaust memory. Keep this tab open while processing and try shorter clips if needed.
